Harold R. Varden- Age 81, of Clarksville, passed away October 6, 2021.

Harold Varden was born in Fairview, TN. The family moved to Donelson, TN when he was young and he grew up there. He was a Varsity Basketball, Football, and Track (hurdles) athlete for Donelson High School.
After graduation, he joined the US Navy and was assigned active duty on the Heavy Cruiser Helena. He married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Kirkpatrick, in 1961 and completed his service two years later. Harold was promoted twice to Petty Officer, Radarman 1st Class, C6.
The couple attended and both graduated from MTSU. Harold worked for Yellow Freight and Eastern Airlines to help pay for their needs while in school. After graduation, he became a realtor and eventually a broker. Harold and Shirley had two children: Amanda (1968) and Lance (1972).
Harold opened Varden Realty in the early 70’s and pioneered real estate sales in rural Mt. Juliet for many years. He established a solid reputation in Wilson and Davidson counties for fair business dealings. In 1991, seeking a more routine schedule, he shifted his career back to the US Government, securing the Real Property Manager position for the TN National Guard air wing. Nearing the end of his career, he met and eventually married Evonne in 2012. They lived happily for the remainder of his life in Clarksville, TN. They traveled across the United States several times on adventures all over the country to Florida, Montana and California to see children and grandchildren.
