Nashville, Tennessee

George H. Rentschler-Age 89, of Nashville, passed away March 24, 2021.

George grew up in Ringtown, PA with his parents, brother Max and extended family. He received his Mechanical Engineering degree from Penn State University where he was also very involved with the Sigma Pi fraternity. Just after graduation, he served in the Army during the Korean war at Fort Knox in Kentucky. This is where he met Nan, the love of his life...on a blind date!! They were married for 64 wonderful years. He was a dedicated and much loved father and grandfather. George was so proud to be a “Papa” and “Granddaddy”.

Work transfers and new jobs took the family from Chicago to Minneapolis to Evansville before finally settling in Nashville. After retiring, he took up the art of stained glass and volunteered for many organizations including The American Red Cross, The Cancer Society, Warner Parks and  St. Thomas Hospital for which he served the past 25 years.

George had a love for nature and being outdoors. He enjoyed long walks, hiking, bird watching, and travel. He was a history buff, an avid reader, and a lifelong learner. He attended the “Osher Lifelong Learning Institute” at Vanderbilt University in to his 80’s.

Always cherished, a man of sincere faith, kindness and the definition of a true gentleman. Let us all remember his loving nature, gentle spirit and contagious laughter.
