Mr. William "Bill" Henry Snyder, Jr., age 76, passed away on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at St. Thomas West Hospital.
William was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, on June 6, 1942, to William ("Rosie") Henry Snyder and Sara Elizabeth (Lightburn) Snyder.
Bill is survived by his son, Buck (Madalyn) Snyder; daughter, Sarah (Robert) Angus; stepson, Brian Francis Neihoff; brother and sister-in-law, Timothy T (Marcia) Snyder; and nephew, Jedidiah Snyder; and grandchildren, Alexander Henry and Greta Jean Angus. He is also survived by his former wife, Mary Scoby Snyder; they remained close and loyal friends and co-parents.
Bill grew up in Bloomington, Indiana with his parents and brother, Timothy (T.T.) Snyder. He attended University of Denver for undergraduate studies and the law school at Indiana University earning his BA and JD degrees. Thereafter, Bill moved to Chicago, Illinois and was an active broker at the Chicago Board of Trade for over 20 years.
In 1988, Bill, Mary, Sarah and Buck lived in Helena, Montana from 1988 through 1992, where they enjoyed the vast beauty of Montana, riding horses through National Forest Service trails, catch and release trout fishing, and wildlife watching. Bill practiced class action litigation, primarily in the environmental sector throughout this time. Bill worked closely on this litigation with attorney David McCrea; his lifelong friend. In 1992, Bill and his family moved to Tennessee.
Bill resided in Brentwood in Laurelwood with his beloved dog, Nate, who was named after Nashville Tennessee. Bill worked with X, in Winterpark, Florida. Bill enjoyed daily walks in the Deerwood Arboretum with Nate, and feeding, often by hand, the myriad of birds from his back deck.
In his last months, Bill was a resident at the Mary Queen of Angels assisted living facility.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, September 11, at 5:30 pm at The Pavilion at Harpeth, 9090 TN Highway 100, Nashville, TN 37221
