Wayne Foster Sharp, a devoted husband, loving father, and respected engineer, passed away peacefully at his home in Nashville, Tennessee on May 1, 2025. Wayne was born on January 5, 1953 in Columbia, Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his parents Luther Eugene Sharp Jr. and Roberta Mae Kirk. He is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Denise L. Sharp, and their two sons, Nathan (Annie) Sharp and James (Jordan) Sharp.
Wayne earned his Bachelor's degree from Tennessee Technological University, laying the foundation for a successful career as an engineer at Ford Motor Company. Known for his organized approach and excellent ability to communicate and work well with others, he excelled in his field. Wayne was invited to lead many joint ventures between Ford and the United Auto Workers and enjoyed using new technology to improve learning and information accessibility on the manufacturing floor.
Wayne’s “bodacious” southern spirit and quick wit remained with him throughout his life, endearing him to many. His quiet strength and persistence for excellence drove his love for his favorite past-time, golf, where he held a scratch handicap, earned seven career hole-in-ones, and found countless hours of enjoyment.
Though he greatly enjoyed his time on the course, his true love was his family. He never missed a sports event, an opportunity to coach or mentor, and always prioritized spending quality time with his wife and children.
A true gentleman, Wayne leaves behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and love.
