Viola Lucile Hudgens

Viola Lucile Hudgens, affectionately known as Mama Lucy, passed away on August 26, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Born on March 6, 1932, in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, Lucy was the daughter of Earl and Hazel Harris.

Lucy's life was full of love and compassion. She dedicated her time to being a loving wife to Arthur W. Hudgens Jr., her husband who preceded her in death. Lucy 's nurturing spirit extended to her children, Janice H. Raburn (Mike), Darla G. Hudgens, and Dennis Hudgens (Alice). Her unconditional love and support will forever be remembered by her family.

Lucy found joy in the simple things in life, with reading being one of her great passions. Losing herself in the pages of a book allowed her to explore countless worlds and expanded her understanding of the world around her.

In addition to her immediate family, Lucy had a strong bond with her extended family members. She leaves behind a sister Earlene Ivy (Lewis) and sister-in-law Barbara Harris. Lucy also had an unbreakable sibling bond with her late sisters Gwen Toler (Jack), Winsola Wilhoite (Dewy), Nancy Andrews (Bittle), and late brother Earl Harris Jr.

Lucy 's love multiplied as it reached the next generations. She was blessed with grandchildren Beth Arnold (Jason), Cathy Goodpaster (James), Haley Barnes (Adam), William Hudgens (Annalea), and great-grandchildren Lauren Arnold, Lucy Reynolds, Allie Reynolds, Alzady Barnes, and Judah Barnes.

To honor the memory of Viola Lucile Hudgens, a visitation service will be held on September 1, 2023, from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at Harpeth Hills Memory Garden, Funeral Home, & Cremation Center located at 9090 TN-100, Nashville, TN, 37221. This will be followed by a funeral service at the same location from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM.
