IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Valerie Marie
Rash
February 11, 1975 – February 26, 2026
Celebration of Life
Camden-Wyoming Fire Company
2:00 - 4:00 pm (Eastern time)
Valerie Marie Rash, a beloved daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother, left this world on February 26, 2026, after courageously battling cancer for six long years. She was born on February 11, 1975, and from the very beginning, Val brought light, laughter, and an unmistakable warmth into the lives of those around her. Her life was marked by love, strength, and an unwavering devotion to her family.
To know Val was to love her. She had a way of making every person feel important, seen, and valued. Whether you were family, a lifelong friend, or someone she had just met, she treated you with kindness and authenticity. She formed many close friendships during her years working at Lowes and Wawa, places where her natural ability to connect with people truly shined. Her coworkers quickly became extended family, drawn to her humor, her honesty, and her generous heart.
Valerie was, without question, the strongest person many of us have ever known. Over the course of six long years, she faced cancer with a bravery that humbled everyone around her. Even on her hardest days, she found a way to smile, to encourage others, and to carry herself with dignity. She did not allow her illness to define her. Instead, she showed us what resilience looks like. She taught us about faith, perseverance, and what it means to keep going even when the road is unimaginably difficult.
Her relationship with Jesus guided her through every season of life. Her faith was not loud or showy; it was steady and sincere. It gave her peace, and it gave her strength. She believed deeply in keeping her family united and loving one another well.
Family was Valerie’s greatest pride and joy. She was a devoted mother to her daughters, Lacie Ruth and her husband Zach, and Alexis Miller. She loved her girls fiercely and without condition. Becoming a grandmother to her precious Nola Ruth was one of the greatest blessings of her life. The joy on her face when she was playing with Nola is something none of us will ever forget. Those moments were pure happiness.
Val found joy in simple but meaningful things like camping trips, beach days, laughter around a fire, and time spent with the people she loved most. She did not need extravagance to be happy. Being surrounded by family was more than enough.
She leaves behind her loving mother, Deborah Rash; her father, Wylie Rash, and his wife, Gwen; her sisters, Dawn Pack and her husband Gary, Melinda Alfree, Kacie Messick and her husband Jimmy, and Lindsey Rash and her partner Ben Clark. She will be deeply missed by her nieces, Taylor Hmidouch and her husband Otmane, Leah Alfree, Sydney Messick, Savannah Messick, and Harper Clark; her nephews, Thomas Rash, Devon Mosley and his wife Sarah, Ian Alfree, and Thomas Clark; and by so many extended family members and friends who were blessed to know her.
Valerie was welcomed into eternal rest by her grandmother, Francis Hurley, her uncle Mike Loper, and her nephew, Cotey Rash.
Our family would like to give a very special and heartfelt thank you to her Aunt Barbie, who cared for Valerie in her final days with extraordinary love, patience, and attention to every detail. The compassion and dignity she provided during that time will never be forgotten. She gave Val comfort and peace when it mattered most, and for that, our family will always be grateful.
Val meant more to our family than words can truly express. The hole left behind by her passing is one that cannot be filled. We are heartbroken that she has left this world far too soon, and yet we are so thankful for the 51 years we were blessed to have her. She showed us how to love deeply, how to stand strong in the face of adversity, and how to laugh even when life feels heavy.
A Celebration of Life honoring Valerie will take place on March 7, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Camden-Wyoming Fire Company, 200 E. Camden Wyoming Avenue, Camden, Delaware 19934.
As we gather to remember Valerie Marie Rash, we will hold tightly to the memories she gave us the laughter, the strength, the encouragement, and the love. Her spirit will live on in her children, her granddaughter, and in every life she touched. Though our hearts are broken, we know her pain is gone, and that gives us peace.
She was our strength. She was our heart. And she will forever be missed.
