Theodore "Ted" J. Murray

Theodore “Ted” Jay Murray age 98, of Nashville TN, passed away on March 3, 2022.

Preceded in death by loving wife of 54 years, Jackie Bean Murray and granddaughter, Elizabeth Caldwell Harrison.

Survived by daughter, Jann Murray Harrison, granddaughters, Julia Harrison (Brandon) Peters, Katherine Harrison (Jon) Bell, great-grandchildren, Madison Peters, Harrison Westley Bell, and Jack Wallace Bell.

Ted a beloved father and grandfather. He attended East High School and was President of The Junior Class and The High Y Club. He attended Western University in Cleveland Ohio and then George Peabody Collage in Nashville. He proudly served the United States Army Air Force for many years. Ted then married Jackie Bean Murray on June 28, 1950. He was Vice President of Yarborough Supple Company. Ted opened Ted’s Cleaners in Belleview, TN in 1975. He was a true pioneer of Bellevue. Ted was Chairman of the board of the first family YMCA of Nashville. He was a Toast Master and was a Charter Member of the Belview Exchange Club. Ted was also a Charter Member and President of the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce. He was citizen of the year and was one of the Chairman of the planning and zoning committee for 5 years. Ted was a member of The Loyal Order of The Hooligans. He was also a member of Bellevue United Methodist Church, Temple Hill Country Club, and Dalewood Methodist Church. He taught the Wesley Weds Sunday school class for 20 years. Ted was a 32nd degree mason and a Shriner. He was an avid golfer and got his first hole in one at age of 92.

There will be visitation Friday, March 18, 2022 from 12:00pm ~ 1:00pm with a Celebration of Life at 1:00 burial to follow at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home.
