Stephen Anthony
Matson
February 7, 1984 – April 8, 2026
Stephen “Steve-O” Anthony Matson, 42, passed away on April 8, 2026. He was born on February 7, 1984, in La Mesa, California.
Stephen grew up in California and made his home in Tennessee in 2020. He attended trade school and went on to build a career as a heavy equipment operator, a job he truly loved and took great pride in for nearly 20 years. He was known as one of the best at what he did.
Above all, Stephen was a devoted husband and father who meant everything to his family. He leaves behind his loving wife, Ashley Matson, and his children, Faith and Seth Matson, who were his greatest pride and joy. He is also survived by his mother, Chris Matson, and was preceded in death by his father, Curtis Matson. Stephen will be deeply missed by his siblings and their families: Michelle Haston, Paul Haston, Paul Vincent Haston, Anthony Haston, Mason Haston, Nicholas Matson, Julie Matson, Noah Matson, and Nick Matson, along with many extended family members and friends who loved him dearly.
Stephen loved spending time with his family and friends, whether it was hosting barbecues, having a cold one with his boys, riding dirt bikes with his son, laughing on the couch with his daughter or simply enjoying a quiet cup of coffee on the front porch with his wife. He cherished family vacations and the memories they created together.
He had a heart of gold and never met a stranger. Everyone who crossed his path felt his warmth and kindness. Stephen was charismatic, full of life, and had a gift for making people laugh and smile, even in the toughest moments.
He was truly one of a kind. He loved deeply and showed it every day through his actions. His unwavering dedication to his family and his willingness to help others left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. He will be remembered as an incredible husband, a devoted father, and a man who always put his family first.
“He loved deeply, laughed often, and made life better for everyone lucky enough to know him.”
Our hearts will forever feel his absence, but we find peace in knowing he is now reunited with his father, Curtis Matson, wrapped in love once more.
The family would like to welcome everyone to their home for a celebration of life for Stephen following the Funeral Service.
