Rodney Frank Reiner, passed away on August 24, 2025, in Franklin, Tennessee. Born in St. Louis on September 19, 1953, Rod was a prominent figure in the performing arts community, leaving a rich legacy through his work as a director, dancer, and educator.

Rod began his career as a creative consultant at Opryland USA, where his passion for the performing arts flourished. In 1983, he transitioned to the Tennessee Arts Commission, serving as Director of Performing Arts until 1991. Following his departure from the Commission, he became General Manager of the Greater Columbus Arts Council and the Columbus Arts Festival, continuing his dedication to arts advocacy and administration. Rod’s journey also included time as a dance instructor at Viterbo University in Wisconsin, sharing his knowledge and love of performance with students. He later returned to the Tennessee Arts Commission, where he ultimately retired as Assistant Director, leaving a legacy in the arts community.

Rod’s passion for performance went beyond administrative roles; he was an accomplished performer with an impressive résumé. He appeared in over 50 Actors' Equity summer stock productions across St. Louis, Kansas City, and Indianapolis, showcasing his talents in renowned musicals such as "Cabaret," "Anything Goes," "Unsinkable Molly Brown," and "Funny Girl," performing alongside legends like Joel Grey and Ann Miller. His career also included participation in several pre-Broadway tours, with roles in productions such as "Hellzapoppin'" starring Jerry Lewis and "Camelot" with Rock Hudson. He made memorable appearances on national television, featuring in specials alongside icons like Dolly Parton and Garth Brooks.

In addition to his performance accolades, Rod contributed significantly to the choreography of nationally televised specials, including those for the Country Music Association. His choreographic expertise was highlighted in award-winning videos such as "All My Rowdy Friends," featuring Hank Williams, Jr., and Crystal Gayle's "Nobody Wants to be Alone."

Rod graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theater/Dance from Webster University in St. Louis, a testimony to his commitment to the craft. His love for the arts extended beyond the stage; he cherished dancing of all kinds, had a passion for antique cars, was a devoted fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, and adored his dogs.

He is survived by his sister, Julie A. Baur, and his nephew, Frank Baur. Rod was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Marcella Reiner.

On Friday, August 29, 2025 there will be a Funeral Mass starting at 10:00am at Holy Name Catholic Church 521 Woodland St Nashville TN 37206. The burial will take place in St. Louis at a later date.

Rodney Frank Reiner will be remembered not only for his numerous contributions to the arts but also for his vibrant personality and commitment to sharing the joy of performance with others. His legacy endures through the many lives he touched, both on and off the stage.
