Robert James “Jim” Schneider, 80, passed away on April 27, 2026, at Alive Hospice in Nashville, Tennessee. Jim was born on June 28, 1945, in Dayton, Ohio.

To know Jim was to know a steady, loyal presence - someone who loved his family and friends deeply and showed it in quiet, everyday ways. He worked in a factory until he suffered a massive stroke in 1989. From that point on, Jim kept pushing forward with determination, becoming an inspiration to many who watched him meet each challenge head-on. He faced life’s obstacles with an upbeat spirit and a strong belief that he could do anything, even with limitations. He never met a stranger and could light up a room—often being the life of the party.

Jim is survived by his former wife and cherished companion, Lynn Beets; his children, Kim Coots and Matt Schneider; his grandchildren, Jessica (Justin) Koogle, Ashley (Scott) Phelps, and Ashleigh Hooper; his great-grandchildren, Maddison Koogle, Caden Price, and Khloe Price; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Vera Schneider; and his siblings, Bud Schneider, Norb Schneider, Donna Tangeman, and Susie Gray.

Visitation will be held on June 27, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Matthew Church, 535 Sneed Road W., Franklin, TN 37069, with the service beginning at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow at Kim Coots’ home (address will be shared with family and friends).

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Stroke Association in Jim’s memory.
