It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Little, a remarkable man known to many as "Bob". Bob was born on February 21, 1934, and peacefully passed away on December 29, 2023. He leaves behind a rich legacy and an unmistakable void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Emily Little, his two children, Dana Little Dowdy and Rob Little, his sister, Martha Sue Sanders, his granddaughters Emily Little and Meghan Forrestal, and his daughter-in-law, DeeDee Little. He was predeceased by his parents Cleon Turner Little and Glois Manning Little and brother, Glenn Little.
A memorial service celebrating Bob's life will be held on January 6, 2024, at Belle Meade United Methodist Church chapel at 11:00 AM, with a casual receiving of friends at 10:00 AM prior to the service. All who knew and loved Bob are welcome to attend and share in the celebration of his impactful life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Alive Hospice, Nashville.
Bob was a proud alumnus of Franklin County High School in Winchester, Tennessee, where he graduated in 1952. He furthered his educational journey at Georgia Tech, where he graduated in 1956 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, earning the prestigious Georgia Tech Armed Forces Award as the AFROTC’s outstanding cadet. Following his studies, Bob served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Air Force, beginning in 1957. His illustrious career later led him to work with Honeywell, from which he retired in 1993.
Among Bob's personal passions were classical piano music, football, and world travel with Emily. His humor, constantly making others smile, was as infectious as his wisdom, and he was always quick with sound advice, such as the importance of managing personal finances responsibly.
Bob was a witty man, a fabulous father, and an even more dynamic grandfather. His greatest accomplishment, in his own words, was marrying the love of his life, Emily. His legacy of love, laughter, and wisdom will be carried on through his wonderful and caring children. He will be dearly missed, but his spirit will forever be in our hearts.
