Richard “Dick” Sappenfield passed away on February 7, 2023 at his home surrounded by all his children. Born in San Diego, California on July 18, 1938 to George & Rosa Jean Sappenfield.
He proudly entered the United States Navy at the age of 17. He met Ann Louise Perry in California where they married on January 26, 1963.He held many important titles in his life from Department Manager to CEO and sat on numerous executive and charitable boards.
He will most notably be remembered for the roles of loving husband to Ann, supportive dad, proud Papa, Great Papa, son, brother, friend and faithful servant of God. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ann, of 58 years, his parents, George and Rosa Jean,brother, Ron, and his grandson, David Golczynski. He is survived by his six children, John (Bethany) Sappenfield, Kay (John) Dodd, Father Mark Sappenfield, Paul Sappenfield, Jill (Jon) Golczynski & Joanie (Steve) Shaffer, fourteen grandchildren, one great grandchild as well as numerous extended family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Catholic Charities-Loaves & Fishes and Room in The Inn. Public visitation will be held on Friday, February 10 from 5pm-7pm at St. Matthew Catholic Church (535 Sneed Road West, Franklin Tennessee). The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, February 11 at 10am at St. Matthew Catholic Church concelebrated by his son, Father Mark Sappenfield & grandson, Father David Dodd.
