Richard McCord, a beloved figure in the community, departed this world on October 21, 2025, at the age of 69. Born on January 30, 1956, Richard's life was marked by his deep connections with family, his dedication to his work, and his ability to bring joy to those around him.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Margie McCord.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Denise McCord; children; Crystal (Joey) Burks, Kyle (Crystal) McCord, and Cayla McCord; grandchildren; Nevaeh, Christian, Destiny, Corbin, Caden, Ashton, Avery, Lawson, Addison, Madylin, Tucker.
Richard graduated from Fairview High School, where he laid the foundations of a life characterized by hard work. He spent many years as a mechanic and machinist, a role that not only showed his skills, but also his desire to help others. His hands always seemed to know how to fix anything that was broken, whether it be an engine or a piece of furniture.
As a member of the Charlotte Road Baptist Church, Richard exemplified a selfless spirit, always willing to lend a helping hand. His caring nature and demeanor made him a cherished friend to many. Known for his sense of humor, Richard had a knack for sharing good jokes that could light up the room.
Richard was particularly passionate about spending time outdoors; one of his favorite places being the beach in Florida. The outdoors provided him with endless joy and peace. A devoted grandfather, he treasured every precious moment spent with his 11 grandchildren. Whether he was engaging in their adventures or sharing stories of his own with them, he found that time to be precious.
In addition to being a family man, Richard possessed a few hidden talents. His drawing skills were known by his family and were an impressive testament to his life, revealing a side of him that many admired.
Often accompanied by his grand-dog, Honey, Richard enjoyed taking daily rides that filled his heart with happiness. This simple pleasure was woven in the fabric of his life.
As we remember Richard McCord, let us carry forward his legacy. His spirit will forever remain a light in the hearts of all who know him. He will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be held November 1st, 2025, from 11:00am to 3:00pm, at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home.
