Reid Adkins, a beloved member of our community and a cherished friend to many, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2026, at the age of 89. Born on April 7, 1936, in Berry’s Lick, Kentucky, Reid lived a life marked by dedication, adventure, and a passion that resonated throughout his work and personal pursuits.
Reid is preceded in death by his parents, Shirley Reggie and Erline Foster Adkins and his brother Royce Adkins.
Reid is survived by his spouse, Suzanne Adkins; children, Trina (Robert) Novielli, Jason Adkins, Ami Deckard, Ann (Brandon) Carroll; grandchildren Mandy Deckard, Caelan Carver-Pack (Katie King), David Deckard, Sophie Carroll; great-grandchildren, Sarah Delgado, Carver Pack, and Kohen Deckard.
A proud veteran, Reid served in the U.S. Air Force from 1956 until his retirement in 1976. His technical expertise in radio and electronic equipment was instrumental to the operations for C-130s and B52s, and he took great pride in his contributions to the safety and effectiveness of his work on the flight line.
Reid was more than a serviceman; he was a man of diverse interests. His love for puzzles, including jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, and Sudoku games, revealed a mind that relished the challenge. He also had a strong desire for travel, weaving memories across miles and landscapes, which enriched his life and broadened his perspectives. Each place he visited filled his heart with stories which he could share with his friends.
His education at Russellville High School in Russellville, KY, provided the foundational wisdom that guided him through life and prepared him for his time in the service. He embraced every opportunity to learn and grow.
Reid's smile and demeanor touched everyone lucky enough to know him. His presence will be missed but lovingly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the charity of your choice.
