Obituary

Raybon Deola Chandler, age 89, of White Bluff, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Ray was born on December 7, 1936, in Nashville, Tennessee, to Jesse Lomax and Cora Odessa. After serving his country with honor in the United States Army, he began a successful career as a drywall contractor, eventually owning and operating his own business, Chandler Construction.

He found great joy in golfing, fishing, and woodworking, and he was known for his quick wit, infectious sense of humor, and unforgettable sayings. Those who knew Ray will always remember him saying, “It’s my opinion, and it should be yours too,” “I’m as tough as a pine knot,” and “I’m sweet, kind, and adorable.”

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margaret Chandler; his father, Jesse Lomax; his mother, Cora Odessa; his brothers, Ira and Dale; his sister, Agnes; and his stepson, Chris Waxman.
