Obituary

Phillip Edward Hay, age 83, passed away on July 12, 2026, at his home in Fairview, Tennessee.

Ed was born on October 28, 1942, to parents James and Margaret Hay.

He graduated from Fairview High School in 1960, joined the United States Air Force immediately thereafter, and was stationed in California for most of his military service years.

Ed worked in Burglar and Fire alarm installations until his retirement, and he was a member of the National Burglar and Fire Alarm Association.

After retirement, Ed spent his free time fishing, working in his garden, woodworking, fixing anything that was broken and tractoring. He spent a lot of time outdoors and in the hayfields, and his greatest joy was spending time with his grandsons on the river or in the woods.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kelley, parents, James and Margaret Hay, and his sister Joan (Joe) Herbert.

He and his wife Patricia were married 63 years and have one child, Amy (Ronnie) Perkerson and two grandchildren: Brandon and Jonathan Perkerson.

Pallbearers are: Ronnie Perkerson, Brandon Perkerson, Jonathan Perkerson, Jacob Jones, Preston Mangrum and James Taylor. Honorary pallbearers are LA Teal and Daniel Sewell.

A celebration of life will be held on July 16, 2026, at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. A graveside service will be held at Hudgins Cemetery in Fairview, TN at 12:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or Shriner’s Hospital.
