Formerly of Nashville, Tennessee born 6/28/31 in Cleveland, Tennessee. Proceeded in death by parents Paul R Phillips and Vivian Phillips, Cleveland, Tennessee. Sister Ruth Garland Woolsey and Peggy Phillips Turner of Atlanta, Georgia. Sister, Becky (Jimmy) Schaeffer, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and by wife Mary Ann Lauderdale Phillips, 65 years. Survived by daughter Jana (Jimmy) Martin, Ashland City, Tennessee, son Stephen (Janice) Phillips, Tyler, Texas and son Tommy (Alison) Phillips, Brentwood, Tennessee, 7 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren, and brother Larry Phillips, Atlanta, Georgia.
Paul graduated from Bradley County High School in Cleveland, Tennessee. He served his country during the Korean War as member of the 278th Regimental Combat Team for East Tennessee. After attending Tennessee Wesleyan College for 2 years playing football, he played football for the University of Memphis in Memphis, Tennessee. In 2002 he was inducted to Bradley County Football Hall of Fame.
He was employed with Atlantic Envelope Company for 35 years and was Regional Sales Manager, retiring in 1993. He moved to Fairfield Glade, where he was a member of FFGUMC and was very active in two golf leagues until the age of 85. He loved watching sports, especially the New York Yankees and the Tennessee Volunteers.
Family graveside memorial service to be held at Harpeth Hills Memorial Gardens at a later time with Peter Van Eys conducting the services.
