Life and Legacy of

Patricia Ann D’Anna Smith

Patricia Ann (D’Anna) Smith, daughter of Victor Sr. and Geraldine D’Anna was born in Washington D.C. on December 9, 1946 and spent her early years as the spunky only girl among six brothers.

“Pat” as she preferred to be called graduated from high school and completed training in nursing and business, the combination of skills which would benefit her later in life. In 1982, she married the love of her life, Henry A. Smith. Together, Pat and Henry maintained an immaculate home in Ellicott City, Maryland. She loved crafting and sewing and decorated their home with a collection of blue and white Pfaltzgraff china and accessories. Pat enjoyed preparing Italian dishes reflective of her heritage. She insisted, “you must season your pasta sauce twice and not be in a hurry to serve your guests”!

It was the year 2000, that Pat’s position with CAT Financial relocated her and Henry to Nashville Tennessee. She was a Customer Service Manager and took great pride in the company hiring her honor student nephew, Justin, who had just graduated from high school; as a seasonal employee. Although she found private times to joke with him, Pat let it be known that she expected the highest level of performance. She often bragged over the years, that he delivered!

Pat coped with Lupus, numerous orthopedic injuries, surgeries and illnesses, but her health took a downward spiral, following the passing of her beloved Henry in 2016. Her healthcare needs ultimately necessitated moving into the Brookdale Belle Meade Senior Living Community where she lived and received excellent care. She quickly became known for her “colorful” sense of humor and enjoyed “sparing” with staff and other residents. She looked forward to BINGO, community movies and occasional outings. Pat received loving care at Brookdale for close to four years, until God called her home.

As a Beloved Child of God, Patricia will be remembered by brothers: Victor D’Anna, Jerry D’Anna, William D’Anna and Steven D’Anna; also, Smith Family members, Fr. John Raphael at St. Thomas Hospital; devoted friend; TeddyJo Carson, staff of Brookdale Belle Meade and others. She was preceded by brothers: Michael and Dennis D’Anna.

A donation, in memory of Henry and Patricia Smith, will be made to the Grief Center at Alive Hospice, Nashville Tennessee.
