Nancy Bennie

Nancy Anne Bennie, RN died Saturday February 25th, 2023 at her home at the age 87, surrounded by her loving family.  Nancy was a long time member of Woodson Chapel Church of Christ in Nashville, TN

Preceded in death by her husband of 61 years Donald Bennie, father Cecil Barker, mother Edith Barker. Survived by her children Joseph (Sheila) Bennie, Jeffrey (Jane) Bennie, Jonathan (Kelly) Bennie and Betsy (Richard) Edgeworth. Grandchildren Sarah (Tony) McKay, Amanda (Jason) Brazier, Laurie (Paavo) Tucker, Rebecca Bennie, Cynthia (Kevin) Newcomb, Blake (Allison) Bennie, Natalie Bennie, Jake Bennie, Ian (Laura) Bennie, Kali (Daniel) Klintworth, Lucas (Marisol) Bennie, Malia Bennie and Nate Edgeworth. Great grandchildren Jemma McKay, Ty Newcomb, Judah Brazier, Benton McKay, Anthony McKay, Elliot Brazier, Charlie Newcomb, Hannah Tucker, Colt McKay, Ryan McKay and Samuel Tucker.

Nancy loved basketball (especially Lipscomb University and Indiana Hoosiers), attending as many of her grandchildren's events as she could, spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Service to others was the motto of Nancy’s life. She spent over 40 years as a labor and delivery nurse, assisting with the delivery of thousands of babies. She trained many new graduate nurses in labor and delivery nursing. She also made many trips to Clinica Ezell in Guatemala to help with surgical postoperative care for the indigenous peoples in Guatemala. She encouraged the same attitude in her children and grandchildren.

There will be no public service. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
