Myrna Martin, a beloved sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on May 4, 2025, in Franklin, Tennessee, at the age of 84. Born on June 9, 1940, in Batesville, Mississippi, Myrna was a person who brought joy and inspiration to all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by Randolph Martin and Loretta Castleman Martin, (brother)James Martin, (sisters) Carolyn Dreher, Danna Thompson, Patricia Nerren, Brothers-In-Law: Guy B. Nerren, Louis McGuire and Chas Hulon Dreher, Nephew Charles (Chuck) Dreher, great Neice Lori Nerren Knox, great Nephew Carter Thompson, and great nephew Barrett Ertle.
For over 30 years, Myrna made her home in Franklin, Tennessee, where she enjoyed the warmth of family and friends. She leaves behind and is survived by Sister Betty McGuire, brother-in-law, Dr. Jimmy Thompson, sister-in-law, Julia Ann Murray Martin, Nieces and nephews, Valle Dreher Harrell (Frank), Jon Dreher, Laura Martin (Jerry) Ertle, Bud (James) (Kay) Martin, Linda Martin Garrett, Tamara McGuire (Glen)Mullen, Kellye Nerren (Jeff) Rice, Kaye Nerren (Randy) Burton, Forrest Thompson, Dan (Angela)Thompson. Myrna is also survived by several great nieces and nephews who were very dear to her….Palmer Harrell, Reid Harrell (Franklin) Bennett (daughters Lane and Laura Lee), Elizabeth Harrell (Josh) Patterson, Meara Mullen (Tyson) Bartlett, Shanley Mullen, Callie Martin(Adam) Leder), Ashton Martin (Max) Bloomingburg (daughter Lily), Braden Dreher, Bradley (Shelby Jo) Martin (children: James & Willa), Christy Ertle (Daniel) Gentry (daughter: Abby), Sandy Ertle (Josh) Dority (sons: Blake, Caleb and Paxton), Ethan Ertle (son: Lane Ertle), Haley Rice, Hunter Rice, Hope Rice, Benjamin (Rachel) Burton, Will Burton, Wyatt Burton, Dalton Knox, Nathan Thompson, Natalie Thompson and Nicholas Thompson.
A dedicated professional, Myrna devoted 25 years of her life to the Administrative and Management teams at IBM, where her contributions left a lasting impression. Her thirst for knowledge was evident through her education at David Lipscomb College and Mississippi State College for Women, where she cultivated not only her intellect but also a lifelong appreciation for learning.
In her personal life, Myrna was a vibrant and creative soul. She learned to play the ukulele, an instrument she embraced with the same passion that defined her beautiful singing voice, which she shared with her sisters. Her love for Broadway musicals and trips to New York City were among her cherished memories, as were the joyous reunions with her classmates from Batesville High School and Grenada High School.
Myrna's artistic talents blossomed through her remarkable pencil sketches and her skillful use of Photoshop, which she used to enhance photographs of her beloved nieces and nephews. She was blessed with the companionship of her dog Alfie, a sweet gift shared with her by the Rice family, who provided her with friendship and loyalty.
For over 30 years, Myrna made her home in Franklin, Tennessee, where she enjoyed the warmth of family and friends.
The family will have a private graveside service held at a later date.
