Moosa Gharacholou

October 5, 1936 — January 23, 2024

Moosa Gharacholou was born on October 5, 1936 in Garmsar, Iran.  He married the love of his life, Mali Mobasherian, on February 26, 1963. They were married for 60 years and had three children.  He and his family moved to the United States in 1978 and settled in Nashville, TN, where he completed his PhD in Educational Administration from George Peabody College and Vanderbilt University.

He worked as a counselor for the state of Tennessee for many years before establishing his business with his son, Mahyar, at State Auto Sales, Inc.  In his youth, he enjoyed wrestling, swimming, gardening, and playing the violin. He enjoyed road trips with family and friends during which he shared many great conversations.  His family and friends will remember his wisdom, compassion, sense of humor, tenderness, and loving nature.  Many will remember him for his willingness to help others, kindness towards strangers, and sincerity.  He would never pass up an opportunity to stress the importance of hard work or the value of a good education.

He was preceded in death by his father Azizollah, his mother Sedigheh, and his sister Shahla.  He is survived by two brothers:  Parviz (Mitra) and Yazdan (Mehrnaz); three sisters: Bani (Ahmadi), Nasrin (Nasser), and Parvin (Alemi); three children: Mahyar (Nadia), Marjan (Bruce), and Shahyar (Geeta); five grandchildren: Cameron, Catherine, Noah, Layla, and Kian; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Moosa passed peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family in Nashville, Tennessee on January 23rd 2024.  He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
