Molly Dvorak

November 12, 1931 — February 13, 2024

Molly Dvorak, age 92, of Nashville, TN, went to her eternal home to be with the Lord on February 13, 2024.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 24 years, Robert Dvorak.

Molly was born on November 12, 1931 in Medina, TN to the late Samuel Wayne Nowell and Charlotte Bullington.

Survivors include her children, Karen (Steve) Uebelhor, Bill Dvorak, Charlotte Dvorak, Andrea (Shipman) Northcutt and Dr. Ed Dvorak (Amy).  She is also survived by her ten grandchildren:  Scott Uebelhor, Robert Uebelhor, Andrea Dvorak Lato and her husband Dillon, Jessie Dvorak Kempka and her husband Kyle, Michelle Dvorak, Molly Northcutt, Sheridan Northcutt, Drew Dvorak, Jakob Dvorak and Lily Dvorak.  She is also survived by five great-grandchildren:  Cayson Dvorak, Lane and Emma Lato and June and Lucy Kempka.

Our mother met our father at work in Memphis, TN where she worked as a secretary.  They married in 1955 in Memphis and moved to the Chicago, IL area soon thereafter.  Mom grew up as the only child in her extended family.  For that reason, she and Dad wanted their children to enjoy having siblings, so that loneliness would never be a part of their lives.  Mom and Dad raised five children and it was there that they taught us the value of hard work, how to peacefully get along with each other, and how to give of one’s time in the service to others.

Mom became a widow at the age of 47, while living in Kingsport, TN.  She focused her life on helping the elderly members of her extended family.  Her strong faith in God allowed her to accept these challenges without hesitation.

Mom moved to the Nashville area in 1985 to be closer to her family.  She was an active member of Saint Henry church, where she was involved in numerous groups and committees over the span of 30 years.  She treasured the strong friendships that developed from her participation in these groups.

Playing bridge and tennis along with gardening were some of the things mom loved to do.   She also was a voracious reader of the Bible and other spiritual books and enjoyed being a support for all her children and grandchildren.  Her strong faith in God allowed her family to witness and recognize how the Lord can supply every need if one just “puts all their faith hope and trust in God.”  The way mom lived her life was a testament to her faith and an example that was a positive influence on the lives of all her children.

We will miss her wonderful laugh, her unwavering optimism for life and helping others, but we know she is resting peacefully in God’s arms and, at long last, enjoying a reunion with our Dad.

“If the spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit which dwells in you.”   Romans 8:11

“They that hope in the LORD will renew their strength, they will soar on eagles’ wings; They will run and not grow weary, walk and not grow faint.”   Isaiah 40:31

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 9:00 at Saint Henry chapel and a Funeral Mass to follow at 10:00.

A graveside service in Kingsport, TN will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to her two favorite charities, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Shriners Childrens hospital.
