Mildred Inez Cole Wilson

Mildred Wilson, 93, from Nashville, TN passed on February 15, 2022, at her daughter’s home in Burns, TN.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert T. Wilson, her sister Joe Ann Cole, her parents Celia Mai Watkins Cole and Leslie Arbin Cole, and her grandmothers Sarah Romelia Anderson Watkins and Izzie Cole, most dearly known to her as Mame and Ma Cole.

Mildred was born on September 6th, 1928, and raised in Portland, TN. She left at a young age to pursue her career. After earning her cosmetology license, she went on to open three hair salons in Nashville, the most successful being The Patio Coiffure in Green Hills. While the business has gone through several ownership changes over the years, it still remains open today after more than five decades in the same location next to the world-famous Bluebird Cafe.

In addition to being a successful business owner in her own right, she also supported her husband in his business, Ace Termite and Pest Control.

Mildred is survived by her only child, Brenda Wilson McSurley from Nashville, TN. She is also survived by her three grandchildren and their spouses, Dana Suffridge and Tyler Ford from Brighton, MI, Emily and Michael Taylor from Nashville, TN, and John and Ashley McSurley from Fort Mill, SC. In addition, she leaves behind five great-grandchildren: Madison Rodgers, Ethan and Quinn Taylor, and Cora & Noah McSurley. Along with her surviving family, she will be greatly missed by many others who were touched by her sweetness and grace.

A Graveside Service will be held 2pm, Thursday February 24th. Visitation will be 12:00pm-2:00pm at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens, Funeral Home and Cremation with a reception to follow at The Pavilion at Harpeth Hills from 2:30-4:30.
