Mike Kersey

June 19, 1952 — December 16, 2025

George Michael “Mike” Kersey was born on June 19, 1952, in Camp Polk, LA, and passed on December 16, 2025, in Nashville, Tennessee at the age of 73 after battling lung cancer. During his life, Mike lived in Jacksonville Fla for 30 yrs, Charleston, SC for 11 yrs, as well as the Mediterranean Sea, via USS Canopus, USS Trippe, USS Dewey, USS Stark and a South American deployment via the USS John Rodgers.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents, George Gerald Kersey and Jacqueline Steele Kersey; and brother, Jay Allen Kersey

Mike is survived by his life-long partner, Teresa Kersey; children, Adrienne Rachelle Kersey and Nicole Michelle Kersey; grandchildren, Tristen Collice Morgan, and Roman Natchez Morgan; siblings, Jan Elaine Von Bokel (Sam), Colleen Kay Gartner (Todd), and Brian Eugene Kersey (Kim).

During Mike’s military career, he was a Chief Petty Officer and retired from the USN after over 21 years of service.

Mike greatly enjoyed guns, knives, planes, & trains – we celebrate the life of a multi-talented musician, composer, artist, history buff, proud veteran and Harley enthusiast. He embraced the world with an unsatisfiable drive to create and express, drawing inspiration from his deeply held Christian beliefs and a profound reverence for Native American culture.

Throughout his life, he explored the world while serving his country, playing music for thousands in festivals abroad, and composed and recorded dynamic rhythms. His love for adventure was matched only by his passion for history, which fueled countless “discussions” and stories that magnetized friends and family.

In his later years, he channeled his creativity into woodworking, crafting pieces that reflected his artistic spirit and connection to the world around him. He had a unique ability to connect with people, never meeting a stranger. For Mike, every creation was more than just a work of art; it was a bridge connecting him to others and God.
