Merritt Lynn White, known to all as M.L., was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who graced our lives with his selflessness and unwavering faith. Born on March 29, 1938, in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He embarked on his life journey with integrity and a commitment to serving God, family, and others.
Preceded in death by his father Merritt Lynn White, Sr.; mother Altha Mae Mullins White and 3 older sisters Ruth Harmon, Pat Hendrix, and Lynn Poole.
M.L. is survived by his wife Barbara White; children Sherri Renee (Mark) Moore, Meshelle "Missy" Lynn Howd; grandchildren Robert "Bobby" Allen (Christina) Simmons, Matthew Thomas Simmons, Meredith "Nikki" Nichole (Nathan) Warren; great grandchildren Chloe Simmons, Claire Simmons, Lylah Simmons, Adalyn Simmons, Kyler Warren as well as numerous nieces, nephews and loved ones.
M.L.'s academic endeavors led him to Bethany Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree. His career was marked by significant contributions in finance, where he excelled in various roles, including banking, Trevecca Nazarene University's CFO and at Ingram Book.
In 1980, M.L. and his family made Franklin, TN their home, after raising their children in Kansas. His love for his family was boundless and unwavering. M.L. cherished his roles as husband to his beloved wife, Barbara White, with whom he shared 64 beautiful years of marriage.
M.L. lived a life rich with hobbies and interests that reflected his nurturing spirit. He found joy in gardening and lawn work. His passion extended to bird watching, always taking the scenic route and traveling. M.L. was a Charter Member of Gateway Community Church of the Nazarene, where he fostered deep connections with his church family and serving God.
A visitation to celebrate M.L.'s life will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Gateway Community Church of the Nazarene in Franklin, Tennessee, followed by a Celebration of Life from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. M.L. will be laid to rest at Harpeth Hills Memory Garden in Nashville, Tennessee, at 2:30 PM.
M.L. will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of love, service, and devotion will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
