In Loving Memory of Melinda Lee Culver May 4, 1950 – April 13, 2025
Melinda Lee Culver, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and lifelong educator, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2025, at the age of 74.
Born on May 4, 1950, Melinda was the daughter of the late John [Jack] Wyatt Lee Sr. and Iva Boyd Lee. She was also preceded in death by her brother, John Wyatt Lee Jr., and by her son, Jack Boyd Culver, February 3–5, 1984.
She is survived by her husband, Rod Stephen Bellomy; her son, Wyatt Lee Culver (Melissa), and their son, Austin Lee Culver; and her son, Boyd Thomas Culver (Lauren), and their son, Jack Lawrence Laviola. She is also lovingly remembered by her stepson, Chris Bellomy (Bridget), and grandson Jonathan (Sarah); her stepson, Ryan Bellomy (Beverly), and granddaughters Madison Bellomy and Brianna Bailes (Jake); her step daugher Andrea White (Zach) and grandson Odin, as well as four great-grandchildren and countless loving cousins and dear friends.
Melinda graduated from Harpeth Hall School in 1968 and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 1972. She later completed her master’s degree in education through UT as well. Her love of learning and steadfast commitment to children guided her through a meaningful and impactful career in education. Melinda electrified classrooms in school districts throughout East and Middle Tennessee, dedicating the majority of her career to Metro Nashville Public Schools. Her classroom was a place of engagement, encouragement, and growth. She left a lasting impression on generations of students and colleagues from all walks of life.
Melinda’s life was one of grace, warmth, and service. She had a deep and abiding love for her family and a passion for nurturing others—whether in the classroom, at home, or in the wider community. She believed that everyone possesses the agency to improve their own life—and she challenged them to use it. Her stoic strength, wide-ranging humor, and unwavering devotion to those she loved will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 3 at Noon, with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Hillsboro Presbyterian Church 5820 Hillsboro Rd, Nashville, TN 37215
