Maxine Bivins, age 94, a beloved member of the Brentwood community, passed away on November 8, 2023, leaving behind a profound impact on the lives of those who knew her. She was born on April 16, 1929, in White Bluff, TN, and grew up surrounded by the beauty of nature. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, Carlton and Eddie Luther.

Survived by her loving daughters, Karen (Rick) Fuqua and Lisa Bruce, grandchildren, Kelly (Will) Swiggart, Robbie (Allie) Bruce, Marty (Valerie) Harris and Leigh Ellen Bruce, great grandchildren, Jacob Swiggart, Mason Swiggart, Lee Sweeney, Logan Swiggart, Cohen Swiggart, Hayden Bruce, and George Harris.


Her remarkable achievements spanned various fields, reflecting her diverse talents and unwavering determination. As an entertainer and an excellent hostess, Maxine had an innate ability to bring joy into people's lives. Her warmth and hospitality created memorable moments that will forever be cherished by all who attended her gatherings.

Maxine was a proud member of the Suburbia Garden Club in Nashville. With a green thumb for gardening, she cultivated beautiful flowers through gardening and seeing things flourish. In addition, her selfless contributions provided comfort and solace to patients during challenging times at Nashville Memorial Hospital as a "Pink Lady." Her compassionate presence brought a ray of hope to those in need. She was also an active member of PEO.ChapterN.

In addition to her involvement in various community organizations, Maxine dedicated her time and energy not only as a volunteer but an ambassador at Our Kids organization in Nashville. Her support for Soup Sunday and Our Kids Golf Klassic were her yearly favorite fundraisers. Maxine's kindness extended beyond words; it was felt by those whose lives she touched.


Maxine Bivins' legacy will forever be etched in the hearts of her family, friends, and community. Her selflessness, unwavering dedication, and kind-heartedness serve as a reminder of the power we each hold to make a difference in the lives of others. The Otter Creek Church of Christ held a special place in Maxine's heart. Her faith was not limited to the church alone; it permeated every aspect of her life, guiding her actions and shaping her character.

A Visitation will take place on Saturday November 11, 2023 from 10:00 am until the Celebration of Life 11:30 am all held at Otter Creek Church of Christ located at 409 Franklin Road, Brentwood, TN 37207.
