Wayne Mealer- Age 75, February 25, 2014. Survived by wife, Jet Mealer; children, Chris Mealer (Teresa), Jeff Mealer and Jennifer Carter (Carl); grandchildren, Savannah Mealer, Chris Carter (Heather) and Lisa Curtis (Milton); great-grandchildren, Jaiden and Lucas. A graduate of University of AL, Mr. Mealer was in management with the Kroger company from 1963 - 1995. He was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army in 1958 and served on Active Duty for 4 years. He served with the National Guard of TN from 1963 - 1998. During those years he was a helicopter flight instructor. Later he served as a pilot for a TN Governor. He was also qualified to pilot 5 different aircrafts. He was a very loving son, husband, father and grandfather. He was very generous especially with children. He continues to provide 2,000 meals monthly to 50 children in Nicaragua. A life celebration service will be at 1 pm on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Judson Baptist Church, 4900 Franklin Rd. Interment will follow at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday, 12 pm - 1 pm at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Nicaragua Women and Children First Mission Agency c/o Judson Baptist Church.
