Mary Geile Dennis

Our precious Mary Geile Dennis of Franklin TN passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Sept. 20 after a brief illness. Mary spent her final days surrounded by family and music in her home. She was born on April 7, 1937 in Raleigh, NC, where she lived until moving to Nashville in 1970. Mary worked as the executive secretary to the warden at the TN State Prison for over 30 years.

She was the most wonderful and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Mary loved the beach, being surrounded by nature, reading on her screened porch and singing harmonies with her choruses. She sang with the Sweet Adelines for over 50 years and was a member of Nashville in Harmony. Her greatest loves were her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. We will forever miss her sweet, gentle spirit and infectious laugh. She taught us all to take life as it comes and to enjoy what each day brings.

Mary is survived by her husband of 65 years, Walton S Dennis, Jr; daughters, Cheryl Bell, Cathy Wunder and Susan Buck; grandchildren, Matt, Michael, David, Hayley, Dylan, Kelsey, Corey and Carly; and great-grandchildren, Hanley, Theo, Charlotte, Millie Ruth, Henry and Oliver.
