Mary Ella Mercer

Mary Ella Mercer, lovingly known as Granny to her cherished loved ones, passed away on June 21, 2024 at the age of 93.

Mary was born September 9, 1930 in Centerville, TN to William and Maggie McNabb. She grew up in Centerville and married RT Mercer June 10, 1951. They settled in Nashville where they raised their children and until she retired, worked at Werthan Bag Company for over 35 years. 

Mary will be remembered for her love of the Lord, her giving heart, the great love she had for her family, and the joy and kindness she brought to those around her.

A beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Mary is survived by her daughter, Brenda Schoate; sons, Danny (Gail) Mercer, and Johnny (Tina) Mercer; 5 grandchildren, Melissa (Ray) Mercer, April (Chris) Brown, Bobby (Brandie) Schoate, Michael (Katie) Mercer, Megan (Tristan) Hall; 7 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, and her very dear friend Pat Childs.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 57 years, RT Mercer, and her siblings.

Services will be officiated by Larry Simmons on Wednesday June 26, 2024 at 11:30 am at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home (Hwy 100). Interment will follow in Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens. Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday June 25, 2024 from 4-8 and on Wednesday from 10:30 until time of service.
