It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mark Trail, who resided in Hermitage, TN. Mark was born on December 27, 1963, in Iowa City, IA and passed quietly in Nashville, TN on July 17th, 2025.
Mark is now at peace. All of us at SRIS Inventory Service will hold a special place in our hearts for him, as will his extended friends outside of work. It might seem strange to some that his work family is taking care of Mark’s final wishes, but Mark was more than just a co-worker and friend — he was our family. We will miss him deeply.
Those who knew Mark knew how proud he was of serving in the U.S. Army Special Forces, 12th Special Forces Group (Airborne), where he served honorably as a Specialist 4 (E-4). His time serving his country was one of the proudest chapters of his life.
Mark also followed his dream to Nashville to pursue a career in the music industry. His motto, “Just One Song,” was both his mantra and his mission. Mark was a gifted songwriter whose music was recorded by notable artists such as Razzy Bailey, Eddie Eastman, Aimee Pettersen, Joe Diffie, JC Andersen, and Clear Blue 22 among others. He was proud to be recognized for his songwriting achievements, and one of his favorite memories was accepting an award for his work — a moment that truly lit him up.
In addition to music, Mark had a passion for bodybuilding and spent countless hours training in the gym. Both in music and fitness, Mark forged lasting friendships that meant the world to him.
Mark’s smile lit up a room, and his kind, generous spirit touched everyone he met. He loved those around him — and he adored his pets. His beloved dogs, Niko, Lucky, and Bev, were his loyal companions, along with a cherished cat.
Mark was, a son, a brother, a friend, a giver — not a taker. He gave his love, loyalty, and laughter freely. Life will go on without him, but it will never be the same for all of those he touched along the way.
Services will be at the Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery on August 1st, 2025 at 2:00pm.
