Lynette Marie Bailey

Lynette Marie Bailey, lovingly known as Gami, aged 69, passed away at Vanderbilt University Medical Center on Saturday June 8, 2024. Born on December 2, 1954, in Jeffersonville, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Mary Olivia & Elmer Russell Hottell. 

Lynette was a 1972 graduate of Butler High School (Louisville, KY) and received an Associate Degree in Secretarial Sciences from Sullivan Business College. On December 7, 1974, she married her husband Richard “Rick” C. Bailey at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Louisville, KY. Together they had two children, Craig M. Bailey (Ruth) and Lisa M. Bailey Johnson (David), who brought pride and joy to their life. 

She devoted all her time being a loving and caring mother to her children. She was very involved in their education and ultimately became the Development Director at Saint Henry School in Nashville, TN. Lynette retired from Saint Henry School in 2017 after 17 years of service. 

Her home was always filled with love, laughter and the pitter-patter of her 6 beloved grandchildren Bailey, Ansley, Linley, Virginia, Tesley and Russell, who affectionally called her Gami (with a heart over the i). Gami was very involved in the lives of her grandchildren and whenever they have tough choices in life, they will always ask themselves “What would Gami do?” for the perfect guidance. 

Lynette is survived by her husband, Rick; children Craig and Lisa; siblings, Loretta Boone, Lorraine Hottell and Mark Hottell; nieces and nephews; grandchildren; a multitude of cousins; and a community of friends and loved ones. 

We will gather to honor Lynette’s remarkable journey at Saint Henry Catholic Church on Friday June 28, 2024. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. with a Funeral Mass starting at 11 a.m. by Monsignor Mike Johnston. Following the Funeral Mass, we invite everyone to celebrate Lynette’s beautiful life until 2 p.m. in the Saint Henry Fellowship Hall.
