With hearts full of love and memories, we announce the passing of Lona Louise Beckwith, whose generous spirit and warm presence brightened the lives of all who knew her for 72 years.
Lona departed this life peacefully on May 27, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, laughter, and love.
Born August 6, 1953, in Nashville, Tennessee, Lona was educated at Hillwood High School, graduating in 1971, and went on to attend Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
Lona devoted nearly 50 years of her life to the banking industry- and she was truly exceptional at it. Known for her sharp attention to detail, tireless work ethic, and a quick wit that could light up any room, she was a beloved colleague and mentor to many. She spent the final chapter of her remarkable career at Pinnacle Financial Partners, having come through the Prime Trust Bank merger, and concluded her service there on September 30, 2025. She shined at everything she did.
Beyond her professional life, Lona was known for her generous heart - sometimes giving to a fault - and her deep desire to make people smile. She had a sarcastic humor that was all her own, a fun personality that made people laugh, and a way of showing up for those she loved that was simply unforgettable.
Christmas was one of Lona's greatest joys. She collected beautiful, handmade fairy dolls and took great care each holiday season to make sure everyone - friends and colleagues alike - received a thoughtful, personal gift. She spent weeks before the holidays making sure each person felt seen, appreciated, and loved. Giving was not something Lona did casually; it was an expression of who she truly was.
Lona was a devoted animal lover whose beloved Yorkies were nothing short of family to her. She adored them with her whole heart, and we take great comfort in knowing that she has now crossed the Rainbow Bridge to frolic with each and every one of them again.
She absolutely loved the water. The beach in Naples, Florida held some of her very best memories, and a quiet afternoon floating in the pool was pure happiness for her. Her home was filled with antiques - little pieces of history she had carefully collected over a lifetime, each one a treasure. Among her most cherished possessions were her grandfather's hand-whittled canes, a beautiful reminder of where she came from.
A heartfelt note of gratitude goes to Iliana and Mary, whose dedicated caregiving was a true gift in Lona's life. With compassion, patience, and genuine love, they showed up for her day after day - not out of duty, but out of the goodness of their hearts. Their tender care brought comfort and peace to Lona's final chapter, and those who loved her are forever grateful.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifton Jr. and Ozelle Starling Beckwith; her brother, Clifton Warren Beckwith III; and her sister, Tina Richards.
She is survived by her nephews, Jeffrey Vantrease, Clifton Beckwith IV, and Justin Porter Beckwith; and her sister-in-law, Pamela Elizabeth Beckwith.
Each carries with them the warmth, laughter, and love that Lona so freely gave.
