IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Linda Marie
Taylor
May 14, 1945 – February 27, 2026
Beloved mother and grandmother, Linda Marie Roberts Taylor, passed away peacefully, yet unexpectedly, on February 27, 2026. Linda was born in Fountain Hill, Pennsylvania on May 14, 1945, to Ada and William Roberts. It was in adjacent Bethlehem where she spent her childhood before enrolling in, and graduating from, nearby Moravian College.
While on a family beach vacation in college, she met the love of her life Herman Elwyn Taylor, Jr (Elwyn). Keeping in touch through phone calls and love letters, the pair eventually married and moved to his home state of Tennessee where Linda gave birth 8 years later to their daughter, Samantha. After a two year stint in Florida, the couple returned to Nashville where their son, Colin, was born. Nashville would be where Linda and Elwyn raised their family and lived together until he passed in 2011.
Linda loved the beach and shell collecting, caring for her many pets over the years, wearing turquoise jewelry, playing hard level sudoku, reading murder mysteries, passionately following politics, lusting after Jason Momoa, propagating succulents and then giving them away and watching her soaps. She was the go-to family resource for all questions on birds and plants. She was known for her baking, especially her famous soda bread. She was generous and smart and sharp witted and tongued.
Linda became “Ninna” to 6 wonderful grandchildren (Ben, Jack, Oliver, Cora, Hazel, and Beatrice), whom she loved with all her heart. Each time a grandchild was born, Ninna would be on the first flight to Texas to make sure those babies didn’t go a moment without their snuggling grandmother holding them, rendering their cribs borderline useless.
However, some of Linda’s brightest days were when her nephews, Nathaniel and Conroy, would make one of their frequent and impromptu visits. Linda always made sure to have their favorites stocked in the fridge in the hopes that they would pass through town and come by for a visit, and they did not disappoint. Linda loved those boys like sons, recounting every moment of their visits.
Our family is forever changed by Linda’s departure. Some may say 80 years is a long life, yet we can’t help feel that it was a life cut too short. She will be forever missed, but we take comfort in knowing she has reconnected with our dad, her soulmate, Elwyn, after all these years.
In keeping with Linda’s wishes, a service will not be held, but a celebration of life event will be scheduled in the near future.
Linda is survived by her daughter Samantha Taylor and Sam’s husband Steven Murff and their children Ben, Cora, and Beatrice; and her son Colin Taylor and his wife Monica and their children Oliver, Jack, and Hazel.
