Larry Cully Hall, 92, passed away peacefully at home in Charleston SC on Aug. 15, 2022, with his beloved wife Bunny (Bernadine) at his side. Born and raised in the Akron OH area, Larry attended Bowling Green State Univ. and earned his Ph.D. at Univ. of Illinois, leading to four decades as a chemistry professor at Vanderbilt, teaching thousands of students. Toward the end of his career, Larry chaired the International Science and Engineering Fair held in Nashville.
Larry (a.k.a. “Doc Hall”) was a life-long avid athlete, setting long-standing school records in track, followed by mastery of croquet, golf, biking, softball, and more running. He also was an accomplished “life master” bridge player. Always active in church and community affairs, Larry improved the lives of many people. Countless friends benefitted from his infectious zest for life.
Preceding Larry in death were his son Bruce, second wife Beverly, and stepson Charlie Bechtold. Survivors in addition to wife Bunny and her family include: his children Mark (Diana Greene), Kaye (Ronald) Watson, and David; grandchildren Marissa Hall (Patrick Nerz), Tyler Hall, Sherry (Joel) Robson, and Sandra Watson; great-grandchildren Theo Cully and Cyrus Andrew Nerz; his first wife Elinor; and step-children through Beverly.
Burial will be Saturday Aug. 27 at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home, 9090 Hwy. 100, Nashville TN, with visitation starting at 9:30, followed by a service at 11:30 am.
