Kenneth Ray Wayman, age 94, passed away in Hermitage, Tennessee on Monday, May 29, 2023. He was born on August 30, 1928, to the late Walter Edward and Avonell Jones Wayman in Nashville, Tennessee.
Artistic, storyteller, and caregiver are just a few of the many words spoken by his family describing the characteristics of Kenneth. Working with the youth and serving as a deacon in the Church of Christ, Kenneth’s faith continues to lead the lives of his friends and family. He loved the beauty of all nature but especially that of Pegram, Tennessee and the Harpeth River. He kept an interest in his family history and hiking the areas of Spring Valley, The Narrows of the Harpeth, and the Harpeth River. Of all these places, Kenneth’s trip to Germany remains as one of his top favorite places he had traveled to.
Kenneth is survived by his loving wife of almost 73 years, Marjorie June Lavender Wayman; son, David Wayman (Laura); daughter, Diane Hatcher (George); grandchildren, Andrea Steele (Barry), Christopher Wayman (Jennifer), George Hatcher (Lorenia), Elizabeth Hartmann (Daniel), Caroline Fleming (Jacob); and sixteen great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life service will be held in the chapel of Harpeth Hills Funeral Home at 3pm on Thursday, June 1, 2023. The visitation will also be on Thursday, June 1, from 11am to 3pm. Burial will take place at Middle Tennessee Veteran’s Cemetery on Friday, June 2, 2023, at 10am.
