Kenneth "Ken" Darrel McMaster

Kenneth Darrel “Ken” McMaster, age 91, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 13, 2026.

Ken was born on August 18, 1934, in Burnet, Texas, to Norman Atkinson McMaster and Bessie Maude Cashen McMaster. He was a hardworking and devoted family man who loved his wife, Marlene “Mimi” Joyce Martin McMaster, deeply. He was a strong and loving father figure whose guidance, support, and steady presence meant so much to his children and family.

Ken attended Arlington High School, where he was a member of the last football team to win a State Championship. His love of athletics continued throughout his life. He was an active part of the running community for more than 20 years and proudly served as President of the Nashville Striders. He was also a longtime sports fan and faithfully cheered for the Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys, and Tennessee Titans.

Ken was a loving and caring man who valued the lifelong friendships he built throughout the years. Those who knew him will remember his strong work ethic, loyalty, and genuine care for the people in his life.

Above all else, Ken was a devoted husband, father, and loving member of his family. His greatest joy came from the time he spent with the people he loved, and he took great pride in his family and all they accomplished. He was always there to offer guidance, support, encouragement, and, most importantly, his unconditional love. His family will forever cherish the memories they made together, the lessons he taught them, and the love he gave so freely. Though he is deeply missed, his love and legacy will live on in the hearts of his family for generations to come.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Norman Atkinson McMaster and Bessie Maude Cashen McMaster; his brothers, Thomas Melvin McMaster and Norman Houghton McMaster; and his sisters, Jacquita LaFae McMaster Penny and Ernestine McMaster Hale.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Marlene “Mimi” Joyce Martin McMaster; his children, Norman Darrel McMaster and his wife, Ann, Glenda Suzanne Short, Geoffrey Cameron McMaster, and Kyle Melvin McMaster and his wife, Lisa; as well as his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nephews, nieces, and many other family members and dear friends.

Ken lived a long life centered around hard work, family, friendship, and love. His presence will be deeply missed, but the example he set and the love he shared will remain a lasting part of all those who were fortunate enough to know him.
