With profound love and sadness, we announce the passing of Joyce Marie Jones, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Joyce passed away peacefully on September 3, 2026, at her home surrounded by family.

Born on September 24, 1942, in Nashville, Tennessee, Joyce graduated from Donelson High School, where she met her future husband, Russ, at a football game on October 14, 1960. They married the following year and shared 56 years of marriage before his passing in 2018. Together, they built a life grounded in love, family, friendship, and enduring companionship.

Joyce carried herself with a natural grace and warmth that made others feel immediately welcome and at ease. She had a genuine kindness and a special way of making people feel loved, valued, cared for, and at home. Beneath her gentle nature was a quiet strength, grounded in a deep faith in God that remained a source of comfort and peace throughout her life.

Above all, Joyce treasured her family. Her greatest joy was seeing those she loved happy, healthy, and flourishing. She gave her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren a lifetime of unconditional love, guidance, and unwavering support. She took great pride in their lives, accomplishments, and dreams and was always there with a listening ear, words of encouragement, comfort, and wisdom. Her family was her greatest blessing, and the love she gave them will remain a lasting part of who they are.

Joyce also cherished the special bonds she shared with extended family and dear friends throughout the years. A gracious host, she loved bringing people together in her home—from large family reunions and gatherings with her beloved “cuzes” to simple card games with close friends. She treasured the laughter, stories, companionship, and memories created together and was always grateful for the gift of having those she loved nearby.

She had an extraordinary love for animals, especially dogs. Throughout her life, her dogs were much more than pets - they were beloved members of her family and were never short on her love and affection. Her beloved Goldendoodles, sisters Millie and Tillie, were her last “Babies”, her constant companions and they brought her endless joy.

Joyce is survived by her children, Cindy (Michael) Taylor, Rusty (Bethany) Jones, and Resa (Bill) Beasley; her grandchildren, Shelly (John) Crosby, Shaina (Josh) Sullivan, Briana Kelley, Bailey Jones, Anna Jones, Blaze (Brett) Harrell, and Murdock Beasley; her great-grandchildren, Henry Crosby and Jones Sullivan; and her brother, John Choate. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russ Jones, and her parents, Dolores and Dorris Choate.

Joyce was, and always will be, deeply loved. Though her passing leaves an immeasurable space in the hearts of those who loved her, her family takes comfort in knowing that her life was beautifully and gracefully lived. She taught those around her, simply by the way she lived, that true elegance comes from kindness, that strength can be gentle, and that a life rooted in faith and love is a life beautifully lived.

Her greatest legacy is the love she gave so freely—and that love will remain with her family and friends always.
