John "Johnny" Edwin Harris, Sr., was born on March 27, 1943, and departed from this world on August 10, 2025. A cherished father, dedicated coach, and enjoyed life to the fullest. Johnny's legacy will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him.
Johnny is survived by his son, John Harris Jr.; grandchildren, John Harris III “Tripp”, Jackson Walker Harris, and Landon Connor Harris; as well as multiple nieces, nephews, and many friends. He is preceded in death by his son, Chad Byron Harris; and step-grandson, Gavin Duzart.
Johnny dedicated a significant part of his life to working at the Ford Motor Company, where he applied his spirit and determination. But beyond his career, it was his family that truly defined him. He was a good father, always looking out, not only for his sons but also for their friends. He often talked to them about their plans for the future. Johnny encouraged and guided them with his wisdom and affection. Johnny had a notable impact on the lives of many young athletes in the West Nashville area. He took pride in coaching a team at a local baseball league, for several years and took the team to a championship. His dedication to coaching exemplified his nature and desire to nurture the community.
Education was a significant part of his journey; Johnny attended Cohn High School, where he showcased his athletic abilities by playing every sport the school offered. His passion was football, which continued throughout his life. He subsequently attended Middle Tennessee University for one year, playing football, then transferred to Austin Peay University where he continued playing football.
Among his fondest memories, Johnny held a special place in his heart for Panama City Beach. The sun and sand brought him joy and relaxation, offering him cherished moments with friends and family.
