Mary Joan Rechter, 87, of Nashville, passed away peacefully on September 23rd, in her home.

Joan was born on April 17th, 1939, in Springfield, Illinois to Evelyn and Louis Kuder. She grew up in Evansville and later attended college at Indiana University. In 1959 she married Benjamin Rechter and they started a family. She was a loving wife and mother, as well as an ever-faithful member of the Catholic church.

She volunteered regularly, actively supporting organizations like Meals on Wheels, Blue Monarch, and others. She was a blessing to many.

Joan was much beloved by friends and family, her sweet and giving nature a hallmark of her personality. Throughout her life, she had many interests, including decorating and design, travel, tennis, and spending time with friends. But most of all, she poured her love and energy into her family. She was quick to smile, and will be remembered for her humble, kind nature.

Joan Rechter is survived by her children, Ben L. Rechter (Jamie), Mark Rechter (Olivia), and Jennifer Paisley (Eric). She is also survived by her sister Carol Pictor, and her grandchildren, Benjamin, Andrew, Kristina, Chris, Eric, and Brenna as well as many great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben R. Rechter, and her twin sister Janet Wathen.

A funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, September 30th at Saint Matthew Catholic Church at 12:00 PM. Visitation will precede the funeral from 10:30–12:00.

Burial will take place at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens, for immediate family.
