Jerry Ray Myatt, 84, of Fairview, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2026.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Imogene and Jack Myatt, a brother-in-law, James Maurice McFarlin and a sister-in-law, Carolyn Myatt.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 40 years, Velma Myatt, children, Marlon Myatt and Deena Myatt, twin sister, Carolyn Faye McFarlin, brother, Jackie Myatt (Karen), nephews, Scott McFarlin (Julie), Mike McFarlin (Beth) and Brian Myatt (Jacque), grandnephews, Hunter Myatt (Stephanie) and Chase Myatt, great-grandnephews, Bryson Myatt, great-grandniece, Hayden Myatt and numerous extended relatives and friends.

Jerry will be remembered as a man who lived with a smile on his face, a helping hand always ready, and an incredible ability to fix just about anything set in front of him.

Jerry proudly devoted much of his life to aviation and service to his country in the National Guard. During his distinguished military career, he served as a C-130 jet engine supervisor, where his mechanical knowledge, skill, and attention to detail earned the respect of those who worked alongside him. His love for aviation continued beyond his military service as a P-51 Mustang mechanic and crew member for John Baugh. Working on such an iconic aircraft was a natural fit for Jerry, a man who understood machinery, appreciated craftsmanship, and seemed to have an instinct for figuring out how things worked.

Away from the hangar, Jerry was an avid sportsman who loved spending time outdoors, flying racing pigeons, as well as hunting and fishing with Mason Potts. He was also a dedicated football fan who enjoyed cheering on the Tennessee Titans and the Washington Redskins.

More than his accomplishments, however, Jerry will be remembered for the way he treated people. He truly never met a stranger. His warm smile and easygoing personality had a way of making people feel welcome, whether he had known them for years or had only just met them. If someone needed help, Jerry was there. He was the kind of man who would do anything he could for anyone, never expecting recognition or anything in return.

There seemed to be very little Jerry couldn't repair, rebuild, or figure out. Give him a problem, a set of tools, and a little time, and chances were good he would find a way to make it work. That same dependable nature extended far beyond anything mechanical. His family and friends knew they could count on him whenever they needed him.

The family cordially invites relatives and friends to share stories of Jerry on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, from four o’clock in the afternoon until eight o’clock in the evening at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens, Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 9090 TN-100 in Nashville. The funeral service will be held the following day also at the funeral home at ten o’clock in the morning with an hour of visiting prior. Pastor Andy Plank will officiate. The committal service will immediately follow.
