Jean Curfman

Jean Caruthers Curfman, age 81, of Nashville, TN passed peacefully at home on December 4, 2023. Jean was born on May 5, 1942. She is preceded in death by her father, William Rudolph Caruthers and mother, Edna Rust Caruthers, husband, Forest Walter Curfman, Jr.

Survived by her daughter, Beverly Curfman, sisters, Joan Weaver and Myrna Sullens, several nieces and nephews, Kenneth (Paula) Caruthers, DeShea (Mitchell) Blue, Cheri Weaver, Chad Sullens, Ronald (Dana) Story, and William Linton, as well as great nieces and nephews.


Throughout her life, Jean had many passions that brought immense joy to her heart. One of her favorite activities was shopping. Roaming through boutiques and discovering unique treasures brought a sparkle to her eyes. Jean had an extraordinary talent for ceramics and found solace in creating beautiful pieces by hand. Her love for tulips knew no bounds as their colorful petals brought cheer even on the gloomiest days.

Cooking was another one of Jean's great talents. She delighted in preparing meals for her loved ones; it was a labor of love that she poured into every dish. Her passion extended beyond cooking at home as Jean adored catered events. The satisfaction of seeing others enjoy delectable cuisines made her heart overflow with joy.

Exploring new places always thrilled Jean's adventurous soul. Among all destinations, Hawaii held a special place in her heart. The tranquil beaches and breathtaking landscapes captured not only her eyes but also nourished the deep connection she felt with nature. The color blue held a special meaning for Jean. Its calming presence was evident throughout her life, from the clothes she wore to the decor in her home. It symbolized tranquility and served as a reminder of all the peaceful moments she encountered during her journey.

Faith played an integral role in Jean's life. As an active member of Brentwood Hills Church of Christ, she found solace in the warm embrace of her church family. Her unwavering devotion and strong belief provided her with strength during both joyous and challenging times.

After a fulfilling career, Jean retired from the Nashville Thermal Transfer plant. Although her professional achievements were noteworthy, nothing compared to the love and joy she found in spending precious moments with her family. Whether it was gathering around the dinner table, embarking on exciting adventures, or simply sharing stories, Jean cherished every second spent with her loved ones.

There will be a Visitation on Thursday December 7, 2023, from 11:30 am until the Celebration of Life 1:30 pm all held at the Pavilion at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home 9090 Highway 100 Nashville, TN 37221.
