Janice (Jan) Bennett, age 79, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away on November 9, 2023, in Nashville, TN. She was born on September 17, 1944, in Stanton, TN. Jan was a kind and loving woman who touched the lives of many with her warmth and gentle nature. Preceded in death by her loving husband and soulmate, J.W. Bennett, Sr., parents, Henry and Nannie Mae “Big Mama” Johnson and Laverne Poole, brother, Cleveland Turpen and son, Jeff Bennett.
Survived by her loving daughters, Connie (Russ) Cook, Jenelle (Jack) Harris and Eva (Comer) Pulley, son, Jenner (Vicki) Bennett, Jr, sister, Rose Lott, brothers, Bill Martin, and Randy Martin, 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren and 2 on the way.
Jan was a dispatcher for the Belle Meade Police Department from 1992-2023 at which time she retired. She loved the police officers very much and considered them as family. Throughout her life, Jan had a multitude of interests and hobbies. She found joy in beautiful crafting crochet pieces, creating delicate needlepoint art, and showcasing her sewing skills. Her love for golf was shared with her husband, sons, and friends. However, her greatest source of happiness came from being a grandmother. Her name became “Nanny” to more than just her grandchildren. She poured her love into all that she did and people she knew.
Conducting Jan’s service will be Minister David Royalty. Pallbearers serving are the Belle Meade Police Officers.

Jan Bennett will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her kindness and generosity touched the hearts of many. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire future generations.
A visitation will take place on Sunday November 12, 2023, from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm and Monday November 13, 2023 from 9:00 am until the Celebration of Life 10:00 am all held at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home located at 9090 Highway 100 Nashville, TN 37221.
