James "Buddy" Hudson

James “Buddy” Harrell Hudson, 86, of Bon Aqua, TN, passed away surrounded by family on April 9, 2022.

James was born on March 14, 1936, to Leo and Iola Hudson in Falkner, MS.  James graduated from Brownsville High School in 1954 and went on to study Civil Engineering at Tennessee Tech where he met his beloved wife, Sue.

After graduating, James married Virginia Sue Mullins on July 9, 1960, and moved to Memphis, TN to begin his career as a structural and civil engineer. James was also in the Air Force Reserves and was stationed at Lackland Air Force base in Lackland, TX.

James was saved as a teenager and loved the Lord. He was a member and deacon at Hermitage Hills Baptist Church for 34 years, and a member at Fairview First Baptist Church for 15 years. James had a heart for missions and went on multiple mission trips within the United States and internationally. James dearly loved his family, served others and lived his life generously.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Iola Hudson, and his sister Sarah Ruth Crosthwait.

James is survived by Sue Hudson, his loving wife of 61 years, and his three daughters: Lisa (John) Bledsoe, Gracie (Frank) Roberts, and Janet (Mike) Calfee. James is also survived by nine cherished grandchildren: Ryan (Ashley) Bledsoe, Savannah (Sean) Metcalf, Callie (Harrison) Hill, Franklin Roberts, Grace Ann Calfee, Stephen Bledsoe, Jonathan Bledsoe, Elizabeth Calfee, and Hudson Calfee, as well as, one great grandson James Metcalf.

Visitation with the family will begin on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 from 9:00 until service time at 10:00 am with burial to follow in the Parker Fowlkes Cemetery, Burns, TN. All services to be held at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home, 9090 Hwy 100, Nashville, TN. 37221.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Parker-Fowlkes Cemetery, 1199 Moss Branch Road, Bon Aqua, TN. 37205 or the missions organization of your choice.
