James Anthony Tant “Tony”, 81, of White Bluff, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2026. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda Tant, his parents, Eula and Joseph Tant, siblings, Buddy Tant, Mary Chilando, Johnny Tant, JoAnn Frensley, Paul Tant and Andy Tant.

Tony is survived by his wife, Dawn Tant, children, Lisa Sullivan (Wendell), Jay Tant (Stephanie), step-children, Misty Hale (Sammy), Shane Gaddes (Becks), and Brandi Younce (Glenn), grandchildren, Allyson Bowden (Tate), Austin Tant, Cory Young (Barbra), Caleb Skinner, Evan Younce, Ethan Younce (Pilar), Lainey Younce and Tristan Hale, great-grandchildren, Sage and Roman Younce. He was also survived by his devoted brother, Joe D. Tant.

He was a proud United States Navy Veteran, honorably serving his country from 1965 to 1968 as a shipfitter.

After his time in the Navy, Tony built a successful career in construction, working as a pipefitter before becoming a general contractor and eventually owning his own business. He was a hardworking man who believed in doing things the right way and took great pride in the work he accomplished.

More than his professional success, Tony will be remembered for the way he cared for the people around him. He genuinely wanted to see others do well and was always looking for ways to improve the lives and livelihoods of those he knew. Whether through his work, his guidance, or simply lending a helping hand, Tony made a lasting difference in the lives of many.

His dedication to his country, his work, and especially the people he cared about will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

The family cordially invites relatives and friends to the graveside service on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at eleven o’clock in the morning at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens, 9090 TN-100 in Nashville. Those in attendance need to meet at the funeral home at 10:30am and everyone will process to the grave together.

In lieu of customary remembrances the family requests donations be made to a charity of the donors’ choice.
