James Sappington

James Norris Sappington Jr., age 71, of Kingston Springs passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 16, 2024. He was born in Lewisburg, Tennessee to the late James Norris Sappington Sr. and Muriel Renegar Sappington.

He was a graduate of Marshall County High School. He furthered his education at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and graduated from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tennessee.

James attended Kingston Springs Church of the Nazarene and continued to grow in his faith by educating a Sunday school class. He had a passion for watching college football and making lasting memories with his family. This often included having family dinners and game time.

He has been described as an honorable gentleman that loved his children. James lived his life with a generous spirit and had a kind word for everyone. With a caring heart and open arms, he never made an enemy.

James is preceded in death by his parents listed above and his brother, Joseph “Joe” Sappington.

He is survived by his loving wife of over twenty-seven years, Carol Ann Sappington; children, Susan (Cory) Sisk of Chapel Hill, Shelley Gardezi (Javed) of Kingston Springs, and Mark (Jen) VonDohlen of Gallatin; sister, Cindia (Stanley) Bivins of Lewisburg; sister-in-law, Lucretia Sappington; and grandchildren, Payton Sisk, Harley Sisk, Cody Sisk, and Jay Gardezi.

A visitation will be held at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, from 2:00pm – 8:00pm and on Wednesday, May 22 from 11:30am – 1:30pm. The funeral service will also be on Wednesday, May 22 beginning at 1:30pm with Chrystal Petty officiating and burial to follow in Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.
