James Maurice McFarlin, fondly known as Jim, was born on May 4, 1942, in Nashville, Tennessee, and passed away on July 10, 2025. He spent his life deeply rooted in the trucking and warehousing industry, demonstrating an entrepreneurial spirit that drove him to establish numerous businesses and partnerships. One of his proudest achievements was founding what is now recognized as The M&W Logistics Group in 1973.
Jim grew up in the west Nashville/Bellevue area, where he graduated from Bellevue High School before furthering his education at Middle Tennessee State University. He was a man of faith, attending Bellevue Church of Christ, and his Christian beliefs guided him in all his endeavors.
Outside of his professional life, Jim had a passion for the outdoors. He enjoyed golfing with friends and found joy in fishing or tending to his yard. His love for nature was a significant part of who he was.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Fay Myatt McFarlin, and his sons, Mike McFarlin and Scott McFarlin, along with their spouses, Beth and Julie, respectively. He cherished his role as a grandfather, leaving behind a legacy of love and mentorship to his grandchildren: Sarah Heffington (David), Blair Davis (Matthew), Caroline McFarlin, Addison Smiley (Brennan), Elise McFarlin, and Dawson McFarlin. He is also survived by his niece and nephew; Pam Hodge(James) and Jeff Crabtree.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, JT and Susan McFarlin, and his sister, Dorothy Crabtree, who is remembered alongside her husband, Billy.
Throughout his life, Jim was known for his kindness, always encouraging those around him and prioritizing the well-being of others. He will be remembered for the love he poured into his family and the lives he touched during his time with us.
A celebration of the life of Jim McFarlin will be held at 4 pm on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at the Bellevue Church of Christ.
