James "Al" Alga Burton, Jr.

James Alga Burton, Jr., affectionately known as Al, passed away on August 30, 2023, in his hometown of Nashville, TN. He was born on October 17, 1948, to his loving parents, James Alga Burton, Sr. and Peggy Lee Burton.

Survivors include, loving daughter, Mary Shalayne Burton; lifelong friend, Mary L Burton; siblings, Gary (Sissy) Burton, Ernie (Sandy) Burton, Chris (Garah) Burton, Theresa (Mike) Beane, and Kathy Burton and numerous loved ones and friends.  

Al dedicated over 30 years of his life to serving the community as a woodchipper operator for Nashville Metro Public Works. His commitment and hard work were greatly appreciated by his colleagues and friends. Al took pride in his job and approached it with a level of skill that only comes from years of experience.

Beyond his professional life, Al had a love for life that was infectious. He had a close-knit circle of family and friends who meant the world to him. In addition to his human companions, Al had a beloved dog named Sadie. She brought him immense joy and love throughout her furry life. Their bond was a testament to the unconditional love that pets bring into our lives.

Outside of work and family, Al enjoyed bowling and found solace in the friendly competition on the lanes and relished those moments spent surrounded by loved ones. His family and friends were paramount to him, and he made sure to continuously create meaningful experiences with them.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 from 9:30am ~ 11:30am with a Celebration of Life at 11:30am, all at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home Nashville, TN, 37221.

As we say goodbye to Al in this physical realm, we hold onto the memories that we have forever etched into our hearts. He may no longer be present with us, but his spirit will live on through the love he shared and the impact he made on our lives. Rest peacefully now, dear Al. You have left an indelible mark on this world and will forever live on in our hearts.
