Obituary

Roger’s English wit and mischievous smile won his wife over from their first conversation 45years ago. Born in Leicestershire, England on May 8, 1942, he immigrated to the United Statesover 50 years ago. He was a loyal supporter of Leicester City Soccer and his family alsofollows them. He is survived by his loving wife, Arlene (Santangelo) and sons David RogerSmith and Steven Michael Smith.

During his career he served as Vice President of the fossil fuel and nuclear division for Fluor International. His position required him to travel internationally but he would proudly tell you that he called Arlene every single day of their 44 years of marriage.

Roger retired early and completed many home projects, albeit at his own pace! A talented carpenter he completely rebuilt the front stairs with hardwood. He took Arlene on many trips but their relaxing time was at the beach in N. Topsail Island, NC.

Roger was a devoted father and shared a loving relationship with his sons. He was extremely proud of the men they became! He leaves behind a family who adored him and friends who will cherish his memory. Our hearts are broken but we are so grateful for the years we shared and the love he gave so freely. Although he is no longer with us his love remains woven into our lives and hearts,

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to “Tunnel to Towers” in his name.
