Herschel "Wayne" Fisher passed away in his hometown of Nashville, TN on March 2, 2024. He was born on June 10, 1937. Throughout his remarkable life, he touched the hearts of many with his warm personality and kind spirit.
Preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Peggy Fisher, brother, James Ronnie, and parents Veston and Myrtle Fisher
Wayne is survived by his son, Herschel (Terri) Fisher and daughter, Brenda Branch. His grandchildren Scott (April) Fisher, Elizabeth (Jacob) Guinn, Grant Fisher, Olivia (Shaun) Paul, Stephen (Jessica) Branch, Nicholas (Cory) Branch; great-grandchildren Daniel, Lydia, Hannah, Elliott, Rylee, Chandli, Cameron, and Augustus; sisters Hilda Gay and Betty (Jack) Hughes as well as numerous friends and loved ones.
Wayne dedicated over 60 years of his life to his career as a self-employed electrician, showcasing his talent and commitment to hard work. However, it was not just his professional achievements that defined Wayne; it was also his involvement at Charlotte Road Baptist Church that truly showcased his character. As a deacon of the church, Wayne led the choir and played a pivotal role as a founding leader, including setting up the first sound system at the church.
Described as someone who never met a stranger, Wayne's love for people shone brightly in everything he did. His sense of humor made him a natural jokester and prankster, bringing joy and laughter to those around him. Beyond his work and church commitments, Wayne found joy in hobbies such as playing softball at church in his younger years, bowling regularly, traveling to new places, collecting hand tools, riding around town enjoying the sights, and listening to southern gospel music. He was a member of the Nashville Box 55 Firebuffs which highlighted his unwavering dedication to serving others.
A visitation will be Friday March 8, 2024 from 11:30am to 1:30pm with a Celebration of Life at 1:30pm. There will be a burial to immediately follow at 2:30pm. All will take place at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home located on 9090 Hwy 100 Nashville, TN 37221.
In Wayne's passing, we remember not only the man he was but also the love and light he brought into this world. His legacy will live on through the memories shared by those whose lives he touched.
